What is CTE?<\/strong><\/p>\n

CTE stands for Common Table Expression in SQL<\/a>. It’s a temporary result set that you can reference within SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE statements. CTEs provide a way to simplify complex queries and make SQL queries more readable.
\nA CTE is defined using the WITH keyword.<\/p>\n

The syntax can vary based on the type of DBMS you are using; I\u2019m explaining it in MSSQL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The basic syntax is:<\/strong><\/p>\n

WITH cte_name (column1, column2, ...) AS (
\n-- CTE query definition
\nSELECT column1, column2, ...
\nFROM your_table
\nWHERE your_conditions
\n)
\n-- Main query using the CTE
\nSELECT *
\nFROM cte_name;<\/code><\/p>\n

The number of parameters in CTE should be the same as mentioned in the select list of its definition.<\/p>\n
