Information Technology vs. Computer Science

Computer Science focuses on efficiently programming computers. Mathematical algorithms are used by computer scientists. To implement these algorithms to computer software and hardware, computer scientists practice theoretical algorithms and practical problems that exist. Artificial intelligence(AI), computer graphics, programming, and software engineering are sub-fields of computer science.

On the other hand, Information Technology involves installing, organizing, and maintaining computer systems. Designing and operating databases and networks are also included in this.

Common IT careers:

Chief Information Officer: The responsibilities for IT and computer systems that support the enterprise’s goals are held by this person.

Chief Technology Officer: All technology goals and policies within an organization are set and maintained by this person.

IT Director: The functioning of all of the business’s technology tools and processes is the responsibility of this person of the enterprise. This person is also called an IT manager or IT leader.

Systems Administrator: This person is responsible for configuring, managing, and troubleshooting a multi-user computing environment. Within an enterprise, this role manages the server, desktop, network, virtualization, or other components.

Developer: To meet business objectives internally or facing customers, this person or team writes, updates and tests code for programs.

Architect: To examine and changes in IT functions to best support the business, this person is responsible.
