What is The Post-Secondary Education?

Introduction

Post-secondary education also called third-level or tertiary education is a non-compulsory education pursued after schooling such as a secondary school, high school, or gymnasium. Post-secondary education is generally taken to cover undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational education with training. Colleges and Universities mainly provide such type of education. Post-secondary education generally results in certifications, diplomas, or academic degrees. This is generally taken by students after 10th and includes specialization of a particular subject after covering all the subjects in schooling.

In Post-secondary there are different streams that you can opt for such as the science stream and arts stream. In the science stream, you can go towards technology and systems and in the arts stream, you get to study finance and accounts. Here are some types of post-secondary education for better understanding:-

  • General and Vocational:-

    The general post-secondary education is mainly covered in colleges, universities, or technical institutions and it includes theoretical elements or applied aspects. This can be done in any department like law, medicine, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine. In contrast, vocational post-secondary education is covered in vocational universities or schools and focuses on practical knowledge.

  • Liberal arts:-

    Liberal arts education includes candidates who have an interest in history, languages, music, philosophy, mathematics, religious studies, science, environmental science, sociology, and theatre.

  • Engineering:-

    Engineering covers the scientific, social, and practical knowledge about designing, building, maintaining systems, machines, processes, etc. It lets you develop your mindset in such a way that you understand the problems thoroughly so that you can give an appropriate solution for it. Different departments are covered in it such as mechanical, computer, aerospace, civil, chemical, electrical, industrial, and biological.

  • Plastic or visual arts:-

    This type of education involves the use of materials that can be molded or modulated such as painting, sculpture, and drawing, and are covered in art or film schools.
